Student opportunities and activities
At Crossmaglen Public School, we offer a variety of programs in the classroom and across the school to help students build new skills, make friends and explore new interests.
Our programs may include:
- School sport, athletics and inter-school competitions (PSSA): Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country Carnivals
- Creative and performing arts, incluing choir
- Gumbaynggirr cultural and language activities
- Incursions and excursions, including Stage 2 and Stage 3 camps
- Interschool Public speaking
- Student leadership opportunities: group leaders for Kids in the Kitchen and Sustainability, Library Monitors
- Activities that support high potential and gifted learners.

Our extra-curricular highlights
Kids in the Kitchen and Sustainability
Each term, students take part in multiple Kids in the Kitchen and sustainability sessions which involve students in Years 2-6 working in mixed-age groupings to either cook a salad, main or dessert. Students may also be in the gardening group where we try to grow produce for use in Kids in the Kitchen.
Public speaking
Students can develop their thinking, communication and teamwork skills through debating and public speaking. They also have the chance to compete in a local Bongil Bongil Public Speaking events.
Creative and performing arts
Our drama, music and art programs help students be creative and express themselves. They can join in concerts, art shows and drama activities. We take part in the North Coast Compass Music Festival each year, which provides an opportunity for regional and rural students to perform in the Combined Junior Choir at a music extravaganza with !
Trips and excursions
Our students enjoy taking part in a range of incursions and excursions which provide opportunities to explore, learn and try new things. These experiences help students grow, build confidence and see how their learning connects to the world and topics they are learning in key learning areas.
